Lee-Ann Lorillu, a student in 3rd year bachelor's degree in English language, literature and civilisation. She spent a year at the National University of Ireland, Cork thanks to the Erasmus+ programme. Here is her feedback on this experience.
"I really enjoyed my mobility in Cork, Ireland. University College of Cork is a welcoming institution, with a very green and vast campus, offering many services to its students - university restaurant, cafés, library, and even a chapel. The lecturers are friendly and sympathetic to the difficulties that international students may encounter - different ways of doing things, administrative misunderstandings, exam stress, etc.
Ireland and its people are very open to different cultures, and I've been lucky enough to meet some wonderful people from the USA, Germany, Norway, Spain and Japan, with whom I've explored the country and discovered some magnificent places, and with whom I hope to remain in contact for many years to come.
The big difficulties for us as international students are the budget that a nine-month placement requires, as the cost of accommodation here is exorbitant. I also felt a certain difference and distance from my friends at the University of Caen who spent their year in France, and who had access to more information - about Masters courses in particular.
However, I can now say that this year in Cork was one of the best experiences of my life and that it will be difficult to say goodbye to my beloved country.
